Class Descriptions

This class blends an invigorating Hatha Flow practice with core focused mat exercises. Students will develop awareness of breathing patterns and spinal alignment, while strengthening the deep muscles of the abdominal area and engaging the Yoga Bandhas.

Therapeutic Yoga:

This class draws upon yoga’s profound ability to create health in the body, mind, and spirit. It weaves together gentle and restorative poses, pranayama, and meditation to support your body’s natural capacity to heal. The class is open to all students yet is particularly well suited to those working with injuries, ailments, or anyone seeking a gentler pace. Gentle Yoga:

Gentle classes allow yoga to be more accessible to people of all sizes, ages, and fitness levels. The class moves at a slower pace, making use of props as necessary to support you through each pose. Each class explores a combination of gentle standing, seated, balancing, and restorative poses as well as some pranayama (breathwork). No prior yoga experience is necessary.

Yoga for a Cause:

This class is donation only, which means you only pay what you can afford. It will be taught by a rotating group of teachers from the studio so students will be exposed to different teachers and styles. All classes will be uplifting and incorporate movement with the breath. The classes will be appropriate for all levels, from first timers to long time practitioners. And most of all, they will be FUN!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, and in honor of all the women in our lives, all the proceeds from this class will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. This foundation provides mammograms and early detection services to low income women. Breast cancer affects 1 in every 8 women worldwide. With early detection and good health care, chances of survival from this disease are drastically increased. However, an alarmingly high percentage of women do not have access to good health care or detection services. We as a yoga community are going to do our part to help.

Bollywood Dance:

In this course, students will experience a unique fusion of Indian folk dance and Hatha Yoga – both which have roots in India. The Indian dance component consists of a combination of regional folk dance styles, such as Garba (Gujarat region) and Bhangra (Punjab region). Much of the choreography could be considered “Bollywood” style. The dancing encourages self-expression, light-heartedness and grace. The Hatha Yoga allows the body to remain supple and relaxed. The dancing and yoga are fused together throughout the class. Students will be able to integrate grace, style, and rhythm into yoga poses (which may be familiar to many.)
